The Howards Grove Education Foundation is classified as a public charity under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The idea for the foundation was spawned by the Howards Grove Advancement Association in 2009 to provide for community advocacy and financial support from individuals, businesses, civic organizations and other sources. The Foundation will evaluate requests and provide funds beyond the normal operating budget for educational programs and activities for local schools.

To support the Howards Grove School District in its mission to provide a caring, innovative learning environment.

Contributions made to the foundation are deductible under Section 170 of the code. This applies to bequests, devises, transfers or gifts. Legal documentation is available by contacting one of our board members.


The Foundation will make financial and other resources available to assist the School District in enhancing
educational opportunities and related activities that are not ordinarily provided through its operating budget.

Enrich student academic endeavors.

  • Create or support special programs and activities.
  • Support field trips and other special experiences.
  • Support special learning opportunities for individual students or student groups.
  • Offer student scholarships in recognition of academic achievement.
Encourage well-rounded students through civic, multicultural, agricultural, artistic, athletic, social and career-related activities.
  • Support extracurricular activities.
  • Support special experiential opportunities for individual students or student groups.
  • Offer student scholarships in recognition of community service and extracurricular achievement.
Encourage excellence in teaching through faculty development.
  • Support enrichment opportunities for faculty.
  • Recognize outstanding faculty contributions with special teaching awards and grants.
Support a positive school climate by providing supplemental equipment and facilities.
  • Classroom extras.
  • Equipment and technology enhancements.
  • Facilities and grounds improvements.
  • Uniforms not otherwise covered under the operating budget.
Facilitate partnership between school and community.
  • Create mentorship opportunities.
  • Offer co-ops, internships and career connections.
  • Encourage community service projects.
  • Provide need-based day care scholarships.
